I have always loved my job. Being with these kids and watching them grow and learn has been one of my biggest joys in life.
But Education is changing. Gone are the days when we just taught children. When we tried to do right by them in any way necessary. When we saw a need, a gap and filled it.
Now we have so many things hanging over our heads that teaching has become damn near to impossible. Test scores, budget concerns, lack of professional staff, parents who have grown apathetic to their child's education.
I keep thinking that I will just continue to do what I have always done... Love my students and teach them to the best of my ability. I keep telling myself that we will get through this. There have always been rocky patches with all things. I keep praying that the Lord will guide our lawmakers and other officials to do what is truly in the best interest of children and not the best interest of their bank accounts.
If anyone is reading this I don't want you to get the wrong idea. I believe my principal, my superintendent, my school board, is doing the best they can with what they have been given. I think ultimately it comes down to state and national government.
I have stated many times before that we need a total meltdown in the Education structure so we can start fresh and clean. What we are doing now isn't working well enough!
